I've heard here and there through rumor mills, the wiki, residents, and even listed in descriptions of some parcels about Linden Lab's attempting to develop an SL certification process. I found a whole sim dedicated to the process at Rockcliffe. Certification would allow clients to know if you know how to build content or script it. It could help you win in a competitive bid for a contract. It may be possible that a list would exist some time in the future where clients can go to find people with skills who are certified.
